Lost Soul Aside is a Miss From PlayStation

New Sony Game ‘Lost Soul Aside’ is a Mess According to Critics

One Sony published game that may have fallen under the radar (for good reason) is ‘Lost Soul Aside’, which launched earlier last week. This action RPG contains a host of weapons including polearms, great swords and magic in a flashy combat system that drew some attention when it was first announced. Unfortunately, it seems that the first release from Chinese developers Ultizero Games has missed the mark in more ways than one.

Most critics and fans point to horrible performance and graphics reminiscent of the PS3 era. Although posed as a AAA release, the game seems to feel more like a AA release with a lot of problems even outside of its performance. The story, characters and voice acting have been universally panned- with some outlets encouraging skipping cutscenes to avoid this aspect of the release entirely. Game8 had the following write up of the game:

“Lost Soul Aside isn’t soulless, but it truly is the definition of a mixed bag. Meant to be seen as the “Final Fantasy of China” and a potential new PlayStation flagship alongside games like Astro Bot and Stellar Blade, it ultimately falls short of those lofty ambitions, leaving behind a lingering sense of wasted potential.”

A 65% on Opencritic and mixed 58% rating on Steam paint quite a mediocre picture of Lost Soul Aside. One thing that many have been able to agree on is the game’s rather good combat. With varied weapons, combos and a mix of magic and swordplay, there’s some good aspects of this release but its ultimately weighed down by its terrible plot and outdated graphics and mechanics. If you really want to give this a go, there’s a free demo available now on most platforms.
