Borderlands 4 is a Mess on PC
As is now the trend for many PC releases, it seems that Borderlands 4 is a complete mess of a port. The fourth mainline entry in the much-anticipated Borderlands series launched earlier last week to decent critical acclaim but hopes of a wholly positive launch were quickly quelled when it came to PC performance. Frame rate slowdowns, graphical glitches and crashes are what most people are talking about online when it comes to this entry.
The game does seem to be faring well on consoles, however, with a smooth 60fps being achieved on Xbox and PlayStation versions of the release. Its becoming a worrying trend with PC ports being completely unoptimized in recent years: Star Wars Jedi Survivor Monster Hunter Wilds being two that were almost unplayable before a whole host of bug fixes on PC. Even still, this often takes a while to resolve so Borderlands 4 is likely to be a bit of a mess in the first few weeks at least.
Fans aren’t shy about voicing their disappointment with the release state for Borderlands 4 either. The title currently has a mostly negative rating on Steam- with nearly all pointing toward how the game is nearly unplayable for even the most powerful set ups. The game itself seems to have strong gameplay, a much improved story and a great cast of characters but the lack of any stability in terms of graphics or performance are really holding this one back.
If you’re thinking about picking up Borderlands 4 on PC, either wait a while for the patches to start rolling out or be prepared for some awful performance issues while playing.
