Borderlands 4 Launches This Week

The latest entry in the seminal Borderlands series is set to launch later this week after a substantial 6-year gap between main entries. Coming on September 12th, Borderlands 4 promises more guns, loot and, of course, a whole host of new vault hunters with varying abilities to spice up the typical run and gun FPS action.

The latest main entry in the series, Borderlands 3, caught a lot of flack for its badly written story and characters. The main villains, new characters and butchering of older character storylines made the sequel to Borderlands 2 feel more like a bad fan fiction rather than an interesting follow-up. It seems that Take Two have taken at least some of these criticisms to heart- with Borderlands 4 set to be a soft reset for the franchise.

Taking on a new story with less connection to the first 3 games should allow Borderlands 4 a bit of breathing room to craft its own identity in the franchise. Should this 4th game manage to build upon the amazing gunplay foundations built up in Borderlands 3 whilst implementing an engaging story on par with Borderlands 2, this could very well be one of the best games in the series.

If you’re interested, you can check out Borderlands 4 when it launches on September 12th. It may be best to wait for review scores to trickle out for this one, though, considering the shaky history of the series when it comes to maintaining a high level of quality.
