Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a Big Success for Xbox
Releasing late last week, the debut game from Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has seen massive critical and commercial success. The turn based RPG with QTE elements has been praised endlessly for its innovative combat system and gripping story and, as such, it has received plenty of recognition from fans and critics alike.

In fact, the game has been so well received, its currently the best user score rated release on aggregate site ‘Metacritic’- with a 9.7/10 rating from over 3,000 users. On that same site, its got an average critic rating of 92 which makes it the best rated release of the year so far. Steam also puts this in a fantastic light- with 92% of players recommending it.
Its not just critical success that Expedition 33 has achieved, though. The game managed to sell 1 million copies within its first 3 days which is an incredible feat for a release in such a niche genre. Turn based RPGs are often seen as outdated (with Final Fantasy XVI’s director even pushing forward this idea) so to see this level of success is very impressive.

Sandfall Interactive is a team comprised of only 30 people- which makes this success even more groundbreaking. To create an RPG on par with industry giants like Persona and Final Fantasy (especially as their first game) is an achievement worthy of being given such high praise. If you’re interested in checking out one of the best RPGs in years, you can grab Expedition 33 now on all major platforms as well as Xbox Game Pass.
