Summer Games Fest Coming this Friday

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest- which has been the replacement for E3 since 2020- is taking place later this week. This, alongside the December’s Game Awards, is the biggest gaming showcase of the year and is likely to have some of the bigger name reveals. The show kicks off this Friday June 6th  at 10:00 PM BST and, if anything like other years, will probably run for around 2 hours.

Last year’s show gave us looks at Neva, Wanderstop, Black Myth: Wukong, Metaphor: ReFantazio and Monster Hunter Wilds- all of which are now out and have been met with critical and commercial success. Despite this, there was still a lot of filler with tonnes of adverts and a bunch of less exciting projects that felt more like filler in between the interesting reveals.

Hopefully, this Summer games fest is able to bring some more exciting reveals following on from the much improved 2024 Game Awards compared to its predecessor. Organiser Geoff Keighley is taking criticism onboard but, as he has mentioned, adverts and the inclusion of less exciting reveals are needed to pay for the shows.

On top of this, with so many showcases (including Xbox’s showcase and Day of the Devs) coming after Summer Games Fest, this kick off show could be left with less exciting announcements should the bigger companies wish to keep their major reveals for their own showcases.

This is especially the case with the Switch 2 coming out just days before and a much-rumoured PlayStation show coming sometime later in June. Still, there’s sure to be at least some gems and big reveals so its worth checking out the show and its subsequent smaller showcases this weekend. It will kick off at 10:00 PM BST this Friday June 6th.
