Mindseye is the Worst Reviewed Game of 2025 (So Far)

The debut game from promising studio ‘Build a Rocket Boy’ (helmed by ex-Rockstar developers including Leslie Benzies) released last week to a miserable reception. ‘Mindseye’ is currently sitting at a mostly negative rating on Steam and an abysmal 36 on Opencritic- cementing it as the worst reviewed game of the year so far.

Mindseye was heralded as a smaller scale futuristic game inspired by the likes of Cyberpunk and Grand Theft Auto V. Unfortunately, it seems that any of the positives of those titles were left out of Mindseye. The worst aspect according to critics is the game’s awful performance. Game breaking bugs, constant lag and glitches that ruin all immersion have left many to strongly recommend against picking this up at the moment.

Even should these bugs be fixed and the game be in perfect condition (from a performance perspective), that wouldn’t be enough to save Mindseye from what players are calling a boring story, uninteresting gunplay and terrible AI that makes it a complete slog to get through. One review site, Total Gaming Network, gave the release a 1/5 with the following write up:

“It's buggy, it's boring, the story is bad, the gameplay is bad, and it runs like garbage. Don't play it. Don't support a studio that is now having their team work "around the clock" to fix a myriad of issues that should have never made it to release.”

Since the initial reveal of Mindseye, it became quite clear that the game would at the very least be forgettable and generic. On top of the plethora of game breaking technical issues, Midseye has quickly become 2025’s version of ‘Gollum’- another broken and completely uninteresting mess. There’s no reason to pick Mindseye up- even if you are a GTA fanatic. There’s a high probability that its going to end in disappointment- especially with the technical state its in at the moment.
