Battlefield 6 Had a Strong Opening Weekend

Although the series has faltered massively in its most recent releases, it seems that Battlefield 6 is finally steering the series in a new direction thanks to a massive opening weekend and strong critical reviews. The game is currently sitting at a mighty 84 on Opencritic with a vast majority of critics recommending the latest multiplayer release. It also managed to achieve nearly 750,000 concurrent players at launch- putting it in Steam’s top 15 most concurrently played games ever.

A return to a classic formula and a much larger scale has led many fans of the series to already fall in love with Battlefield 6. Compared to the efforts of Battlefield V and 1942, the sixth entry is already off to a much better start. There’s been no confirmation on the game’s sales figures yet but, with so many day one players, its sure to reach the 5 million milestone reasonably quickly.

Although there’s been a lot of praise of the game so far, there’s also been a fair share of criticism. This is mainly due to an outage on the EA app preventing a lot of players from being able to get into the game at launch. This has since been resolved but it did cause a fair bit of confusion and frustration for those who decided to pre-order on the app. The official response from EA relating to this was to just refund the game and but it again on another platform such as Steam.

If you’re interested in picking up the latest in the Battlefield series, you can pick it up on all major platforms now.
