Chained Echoes DLC Coming August 7th
After initially being slated for a release in Q2 2025, the first DLC for the phenomenal indie JRPG ‘Chained Echoes’ has been officially announced with an August 7th release date. Solo dev Mathias Linda first launched Chained echoes in 2022 to overwhelming praise. Retro inspired visual and modern interpretations of the traditional JRPG combat system made this release an instant classic for fans of the genre.
Despite it now being three years since release, we are finally getting out first (and maybe only) piece of substantial DLC for the game. Titled ‘Ashes of Elrant’, this add-on is set to include a new region, new equipment, new minigames and even a whole new party member simply called ‘White Wolf’. Not much else regarding the expansion was revealed after its initial announcement last year- which led many to be confused in late June when a Q2 release date was quickly running out. Thankfully, despite being slightly delayed, Chained Echoes fans will be able to pick the DLC up in just over a month.
The price of the expansion has yet to be revealed but its likely to run for around £10-£15 considering the price of the base game. With it being in the works for well over 2 years now, this DLC should be quite substantial and add a decent amount of additional content. If you have yet to pick up this masterful indie JRPG, you can grab it now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
If old school releases like Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger were your jam (or even modern JRPGs like Sea of Stars), its certainly worth giving Chained Echoes a go- just in time for its first piece of additional content.
